Just a reminder that the final event in English PEN’s summer season will take place next week on Monday 13 July. The PEN/Ackerley Prize for memoir and autobiography is the only prize of its kind in the UK. In this special event, previous winners of the prize Diana Athill, Dan Jacobson and Miranda Seymour come together to discuss the impact of the prize on their lives and to consider the state of life writing as a genre. The winner of this year’s prize will then be announced.

The shortlist is:

Julian Barnes - Nothing to be Frightened of (Cape)
Julia Blackburn - The Three of Us (Cape)
Susie Boyt - My Judy Garland Life (Virago)
Ferdinand Mount - Cold Cream (Bloomsbury)
Sathnam Sanghera - The Boy with the Topknot [originally published as If You Don’t Know Me By Now] (Penguin)
