Patriot Act Extended, Fight Continues

Though the House of Representative has voted to extend Patriot Act Provisions through December 8, the Campaign for Reader Privacy supports an amendment to an appropriations bill that would restore the safeguards for bookstore and library records that were eliminated by the Patriot Act. [More]


PEN Brings "Reckoning with Torture" to Sundance

Robert Redford, Ellen Barkin, and Annie Proulx headlined a special performance of "Reckoning with Torture" at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Doug Liman, a passionate supporter of PEN who directed the event, said, "We're at a pivotal moment in history, and my hope is that America will choose a path toward restoring this nation as a defender of human rights."
